- BMI
- An individual's weight as measured in kilograms divided by the square of their height as measured in meters (kg/m2)
- Constant Dollars
- When the value of a currency is adjusted to allow comparisons across time. This is distinct from 'nominal' or 'current' dollar values.
- Gender
- See Sex.1
- Labor Force Participation Rate
- The number of people who are either employed or are actively seeking employment and who are at least 16 years of age divided by the total noninstitutionalized working-age population.
- Median Income
- A measure of income that divides the population into two equal parts. Household median income includes households with no income.
- Nonnegligent/Voluntary Manslaughter
- Intentionally and without legal justification causing the death of another. This excludes such things as conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder.
- Obesity
- A BMI greater or equal to 30.
- Poverty Rate
- The ratio of the number of people who fall below the poverty line, which is half the median income of the total population.
- Race
- Division of groups of people based on physical traits, which tend to be based more on social definitions as opposed to biological or genetic definitions.
- Rape
- We use the revised UCR definition of rape: Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of
another person, without the consent of the victim.
- Rate
- Per 100,000
- Sex
- One of the two primary forms of human beings distinguished as either male or female based on reproductive organs and structures.1
- Teen Birth Rate
- Number of births per 1,000 females aged 15 to 19.
- Terrorism
- Violent or criminal acts committed by individuals or groups to further ideological goals such as religous, social or environmental. International terrorism includes individuals or groups who are inspired by or associated with designated foreign terrorist organizations.
- Unemployment Rate
- A measure of the percent of the labor force who does not have a job and are seeking employment.
